Camberley – near Blackwater isn’t it?

Camberley Borough Guide 1

In the early 19th century there wasn’t a town (or even a village or hamlet) between between Bagshot and Blackwater.  When the Royal Military College was moved from Marlow to the area in 1812, the new settlement of businesses between the Frimley Road and the Blackwater bridge was called, simply, Newtown, Blackwater.  In this guide, from the early 20th century, Blackwater is still playing an important part.
