How a Welsh coal mining company get involved in Camberley

Ephemera 1 1

Aren’t old adverts interesting?  This one comes from a copy of Ideal Home in 1963.

The company started in mid Victorian Wales and diversified after the nationalisation of the collieries in 1947.   Fifty years later the engineering companies were themselves ‘re-structured’ away and the firm was left with running ports as PD Ports.  Since then, unsurprisingly, they have changed hands several times.

The firm that started in Camberley was actually Janitor Boilers who were settled in by 1951, making sold fuel boilers for houses.  By the early 1960s the name had changed to Powell Duffryn and by 1967 changed again to International Janitor.

I am not sure exactly where they were in Vale Road – does anyone remember?
