This may not look like an advert….but it is!

By the time that this guidebook was published the ‘golden era’ of huge Camberley houses was over and they and more importantly, their grounds were being sold.  This innocent little reference to ‘The beauty of the Camberley vicinage’ and especially the Brackendale Estate where ‘the Estate is being rapidly laid out for building purposes, without losing any of its charm’ is probably not unconnected with the presence of an advert for Sadler and Baker, the agents handling the sale.

The next page continues to describe the ample sporting delights to be found locally, including hockey, a rifle club, hunting and, of course, golf.   How could one not rush to live here?
