…….even though it has turned up in quite a few local history sites! Here we have the ill-fated Duke of York in the days when it was still a ‘posh’ hotel – about 1900 – and what looks like a neat little row of houses and shops stretching down the London Road towards Blackwater.
Isn’t it strange that hand coloured prints always look so much ‘cleaner’ (apart from the odd bit of detritus!) than the sepia version. The world looks much dirtier in black and white?
