Another of the town’s Lost Events…….

Hospital Carnival

This week I am sharing this programme for a charity fund raiser which took place just before the start of WW2.  At that time there was, of course, no National Health Service and the hospital in Frimley relied entirely on voluntary donations and the goodwill of the town.

Camberley was still dominated by the military establishment, not only at the RMA and Staff College, but also because the town had a large number of retired army officers.  The Chairman of the Frimley & Camberley Urban District Council was Lieutenant Colonel L W Lucas DSO and Captain T Loman was the Chairman of the Carnival.
