This was very much a community effort as it was built by William Wells King (who also built St Mary’s); the land was purchased by Nicholas Verran and James Page (two local business men) and the design was by Maurice Lawson (I think he was someone’s son-in-law – can someone help out here?).  It was opened for services in October 1930 but demolished to make way for the Atrium development.  The congregation was rehoused in High Cross.
